About Hobart Phoenix Basketball Association

Established in 1990, Hobart Basketball Association has a long affiliation with the sport of basketball in Southern Tasmania. Over the years, Hobart Basketball has had significant success both on and off the court, originally as Hobart Basketball, and more recently under the name Phoenix Basketball.

In 1989 Basketball Tasmania led a restructure of basketball in the south of the state, in a move to create more competitive rosters from U10’s through to seniors. The new structure was also designed so that the new associations could work closely with the schools and businesses in their zone. This led to the creation of 6 districts: Kingston, Hobart, Moonah, Glenorchy, New Norfolk and Clarence. In 1990 the rosters saw these teams compete for the first time in all age groups and divisions.

With the new restructure of Basketball in the state of Tasmania in 2018, we have proudly been able to return the Hobart Basketball name to our association, and we look forward to building on our success into the future.

Hobart Phoenix
Club Song

See the Phoenix fly up, up!

To win the premiership flag.

Our team who play this grand old game,

Are always striving for glory and fame!

See the Phoenix fly up, up,

The other teams they don’t fear,

They all try their best,

But they can’t get near,

As the Phoenix fly up,!
