Hobart Basketball Association’s primary sponsor, Salamanca Fresh, are committed to having a positive environmental impact. In order to demonstrate this they have announced a new means to reduce packaging.

At Salamanca Fresh we are working hard to make a positive impact on the environment. In order to make a difference in reducing plastic waste, we are encouraging customers to bring their own clean, reusable containers for deli and butcher purchases. Our friendly staff welcome the use of customers’ own containers in all our stores. Clean BYO containers can be used to take home any weighted, individual or pre-sliced purchases from the deli and butcher, such as fresh meat and fish, antipasto, sushi, bread and cakes.

Salads and other items sold by volume can be taken home in small, medium or large takeaway containers provided by the store. Customers are welcome to return these clean containers to the store for reuse next time a salad purchase is made.

Fresh espresso coffee to-go is also available in four of our stores (Bellerive, Lenah Valley, Sandy Bay and Huonville). We encourage customers to help us reduce waste by bringing in their own clean reusable coffee cups.

We strive to achieve the highest level of health and safety in our stores, meaning use of customers’ own containers is at the discretion of Salamanca Fresh staff. By using their own containers, customers acknowledge that they are responsible for ensuring their containers are clean.

We are well on our way to reducing our plastic waste and are discovering new ways to improve all the time. You’ll notice more changes happening over the coming months as well.

We encourage our fans and members to support Salamanca Fresh, and the environment, by bringing your reusable containers when shopping!
